Early in 2000 I was drawn to Bowen Therapy whilst recovering from a major motor vehicle accident, suffering multiple fractures and a shattered right patella. After one Bowen Therapy treatment I was amazed with the flexibility and freedom I experienced in my knee. I knew I had to learn this amazing technique to help my clients.
At that time I had a very busy massage therapy practise. I had instigated a "massage for staff" service at both North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. I taught infant massage at two local Parent Centre groups and to students at Wellpark College and held a massage therapy clinic at a GP's practise.
As I introduced Bowen Therapy to clients for specific problems the results were truly gratifying. With hospital staff who were constantly on computers and suffering neck and shoulder tightness and RSI -type symptoms, I used Bowen techniques and we were soon seeing quicker recovery and less visits to the Occupational Health nurse.
In 2000 I was told by my orthopaedic surgeon that I would probably need a total knee replacement within five years. Well I still haven't had one!! I do have Bowen Therapy as maintenance support for my body and feel privileged to have been led to this truly wonderful modality.
In 2008 I achieved my Advanced Certificate and was going to stay with that, but when the opportunity came in 2009 to start the Masters level taught by Ossie and Elaine Rentsch I jumped at it. Certificate of Specialised Bowen Procedures 2 (Masters Level) - is the highest level of Bowtech Bowen Practitioner training. To be taught by these two amazing people who have brought Bowen therapy to the world is a great privilege in the fact that they were taught by Tom Bowen himself. It was Ossie Rentsch who documented this amazing technique and has taken it to over 30 countries.
So why "Bowtech" Bowen Therapy?
Bowtech ("Bowenwork" used in USA) is the trademark for the original Bowen Technique.
Only accredited Bowtech instructors can teach the 7 modules of Basic Training including the Advanced certificate. The Masters Certificate Course is taught by Ossie and Elaine Rentsch. To fulfill professional status, practitioners have to attend 32 hours review practice every two years.
The aim is to keep this modality as pure and true to how Tom Bowen taught it. Tom Bowen's words were "Trust the technique."
That clients can trust a practitioner that is Bowtech trained is a guarantee.
